Brian Stegavig has thirty-five years of fire service and emergency planning experience. Prior to establishing West Coast Emergency Solutions, Brian was a senior officer in various capacities in a mid-sized fire department in British Columbia, Canada.

Brian brings to WCES clients the benefit of his extensive knowledge and experience in the enforcement of municipal, provincial, and federal fire prevention codes and the preparation of related bylaws, broad-based knowledge and training in the field of emergency planning, pre-incident planning and code enforcement, and demonstrated competence in all aspects of fire ground command.

During his time as a Chief Fire Prevention Officer, Brian supervised fire inspection staff, computerized the fire inspection program and developed inspection standards in use today.
He has extensive experience in reviewing and approving fire safety plans for the private sector from the point of view of the authority having jurisdiction.

Emergency planning has been a major interest of Brian's for many years and he has extensive experience in developing and updating municipal and departmental emergency plans, and in designing training scenarios (walk-throughs, tabletop exercises, functional and full-scale).

Effective interpersonal skills have enabled Brian to successfully work with both private and public sectors in the interpretation and enforcement of fire regulations, and to deliver relevant and well-received lectures and presentations to industry, residents, institutions, and other interested groups.

Brian's primary vision for WCES is to create solid relationships with the public and private sectors based on working together to reduce risk to life safety.
